Students have expressed their anger over Hull College’s decision to close on-campus nurseries, writes Danielle Hayes.
The further education group stated that all three of the college nurseries will close in December. The nurseries are located in the Queens Gardens, West Park and Goole campuses’.
At the moment, students and members of staff depend on the college for childcare. Parents have been told they need to find somewhere else urgently for their children to go when the new year starts. Hull College have held a parent meeting to give advise on where to go and what to do.
The college announced the plans to close their nurseries less than a week after announcing plans to make around 100 full-time staff members redundant. It has been confirmed that the plans are part of the proposals they’ve made to address the £2.6 million deficit they face.
