Freedom of Information Act

You can request information from organisations under the Freedom of Information Act for investigations for news stories. Anyone can request for information, no matter who you are.
You can FOI request from:

  • Council
  • Police
  • Education (offsted, schools, colleges, universities)
  • Government (central and local)
  • Environmental health
  • NHS
  • MPs
  • Fire emergency services

People can refuse FOI requests because:

  • They are vexatious
  • They cost too much money
  • You’ve made too many requests
